Lenten Labyrinth Walks

Labyrinth Walks are scheduled throughout Lent for contemplative embodied reflection. The labyrinth at Emmanuel is an adaptation of the magnificent labyrinth in the sanctuary of the 13th c. Chartres Cathedral in Chartres, France. Walking the labyrinth is symbolic of life journey, a sacred pilgrimage with a holy intention. Early pilgrims traveled to labyrinths in European Cathedrals to fulfill their duty of a symbolic journey to Jerusalem. Reaching the rosette center of the labyrinth offers a place for renewal and the arrival to the New Jerusalem.

As we walk this path in Lent, let us be receptive to God’s message of the wilderness experience. Let us journey together as pilgrims in the knowledge that we walk with Jesus and are baptized into the commitment to share God’s love. Labyrinth Walks are available these days during Lent:

Ash Wednesday, Feb 26, all-day
Wed., March 18 - 5:00 – 6:00 PM, before meal & program
Wed., March 25 - 5:00 – 6:00 PM, before meal & program
Wed., April 1, - 5:00 – 6:00 PM, before meal & program
Holy Week – every day when the office is open plus -
Maundy Thursday, April 9, 6:00-6:45 – candlelight and music before service

Finger labyrinths are also available.
