Our Parish Life Together
We are a parish family who worship in one of downtown Rockford's legacy churches -- and we are excited by its current renaissance.
Our parish family includes members who grew up at Emmanuel, young families, young professionals, and single people of all ages! We are gay, straight, single, married.
We laugh together at our many many social functions, attend our weddings, and say goodbye together at the funerals of our members. We are members of guilds and groups and some of us sing in the choir.
We are joined by our belief that Christ calls us to be present in the world and act through our faith. We volunteer for and financially support a variety of organizations dedicated to serving those in need.
Book Group
On the second Tuesday of the month, the Book Group meets to discuss a book chosen by the group. Books chosen in the past: The Love Songs of WEB DuBois, Dinner With Edward, and Through the Narrow Gate.
Education
Fellowship
We love to get together at Emmanuel and do so regularly! Our gatherings may take place during coffee hour, after major feast services, or to mark special occasions such as fundraisers or seasonal parties. There is always good food, often music, and FUN!
